November 28, 1443, George Kastrioti Scanderbeg and his 300 Dibran Soldiers rebeled against the Ottoman Empire, liberated the city of Kruja and raised the Albanian flag.
Without getting to deep into details and history, thats how the Abanian national identity was born. Dibra played a major role in the Albanian revolution and as such, its a major part of Albanian history and culture. As far as history, it was first mentioned in a map of Ptolemy in the 2nd century and is the birthplace of George Kastrioti Scanderbeg, the great Albanian national hero who resisted the Ottoman Empire for over 20 years until his death and his main commander Moisi Arianit Golemi, the great cavarly general of Dibra.
In this November 28, 2009, we remember the great Albanian hero, his cause and our national flag.
