Besa - the Albanian code of honor and word of honor that is the ultimate promise. The below link is a CBS special that aired on November, 2009. It tells the story of Albanian families taking in fleeing Jewish families and protecting them by the code of Besa.
Under the code of Besa, Albanians are required to treat and protect house guests, eventhough they are complete strangers, as if they are family and assure their safety, even if it means risking their own lives.
